The creative and digital sector has grown faster in the region than anywhere else in the UK and now employs more than 35,000 people.

With a growing talent pool of creative businesses and a reputation for innovation, talent and quality, the region boasts a cluster of rapidly growing companies, such as Technophobia, Plusnet, Sumo Digital, Warp Films and Zoo Digital.

Outside the creative and digital sector, there is huge demand for a wide range of specialist roles in IT departments across the public sector, manufacturing and retail.

As a Computing student, you will study a range of areas such as web and app development, animation, computer architecture and programming, digital graphics, IT repair, network management and cyber security, among others.

You will learn from tutors who have industry experience in computer networking, software engineering and game development, and develop a strong understanding of the impact of IT and computing on business, and its future as an industry. You will also gain wider transferable skills sought after by employers including problem-solving, applied creativity and research.

Our Computing and Digital courses are taught within specialist computer studios, offering industry-standard technology, equipment and software, including Microsoft and Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, Construct 2 and Game Maker Studio. Both Rotherham College and Dearne Valley College have dedicated hardware and networking space.
